Arigatou International Sets Up New Headquarters Organization in Japan, Opens Nairobi Office

On December 25, 2012, Arigatou International was formally incorporated in Japan.

The new organization, which entirely replaces the former Arigatou Foundation, will serve as the global headquarters for Arigatou’s ongoing work for children. The full spirit, commitments and activities of the Arigatou Foundation have been inherited by the new organization. Under the Tokyo headquarters, Arigatou International is also adding to its existing offices in Geneva and New York a third office in Nairobi, Kenya. Under the new structure, each of these offices will be home to one of Arigatou’s global initiatives: Ethics Education for Children in Geneva, the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children in New York, and Mobilizing Faith-based Resources to End Child Poverty in Nairobi.

In addition to housing the poverty initiative, the new Arigatou International office in Nairobi will also be the new home of the GNRC Secretariat. Dr. Mustafa Ali, who has been coordinator for GNRC Africa for many years now, will serve full-time as GNRC Secretary General and Director of the Nairobi Office. He will replace Mr. Atsushi Iwasaki, who has served on a volunteer, part-time basis as GNRC Secretary General since the GNRC was established. With the continued growth of the GNRC, the new full-time Secretary General and his staff will be able to provide fuller support to GNRC members around the world.
