Rev. Keishi Miyamoto joins World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on the Role of Faith

The World Economic Forum has invited Rev. Keishi Miyamoto, President of Arigatou International, to serve a two-year term on its Global Agenda Council on the Role of Faith.

The World Economic Forum, known for its annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, is an independent international organization committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas. The Forum describes its global agenda councils as “the world’s foremost intellectual network,” bringing together thought leaders in various fields to form a “global brain trust” to shape innovative solutions to the challenges the world faces.

As a member of the Global Agenda Council on the Role of Faith, Rev. Miyamoto has been asked to identify breakthrough ideas and new pathways to advance critical issues regarding the role of faith in today’s world. Together with the other esteemed members of the council, he will examine faith-related responses to globalization and explore the positive role that faith can play in providing solutions to contemporary challenges. Council members meet virtually three times a year to shape their recommendations to the World Economic Forum, and are also invited to the annual Summit on the Global Agenda, which will be held this year 12-14 November in Dubai.

Rev. Miyamoto leads the work of Arigatou International, a global, faith-based NGO committed to building a better world for children. He has inaugurated a number of global-scale, partnership-based initiatives to secure child rights and foster children’s well-being, engaging the world’s diverse religious communities and UN agencies such as UNICEF and UNESCO in these efforts. Among these are the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC), Learning to Live Together: An Interfaith and Intercultural Programme for Ethics Education, and the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children. Most recently, he is working to bring together religious leaders and business and finance leaders to shape and launch a new initiative, “Mobilizing Faith-based Resources to End Child Poverty,” which was announced at the fourth global forum of the GNRC in Tanzania in June of this year.
