We continue creating spaces for children in all regions to reflect together on how the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted their lives and the lives of other children around the world.
On Sunday, July 25, it was the time for Portuguese-speaking children (from 5 to 15 years of age) to interact with one another. Ten children from Brazil and Portugal got together in an online session to share their views and experiences dealing with the effects of the pandemic and to visit our virtual exhibition “Faith in Action for Children” to learn from the experiences of children in 33 countries whose contributions are collected in the exhibition.
The dialogue was an opportunity to foster intercultural and interfaith sensitivity among the children as, for most of them, this was the first time interacting with children from a different country and a different faith. Participants came from the Jewish, Christian, and Spiritism faiths.
The dialogue and the visit to the exhibition allowed children to reflect that despite differences, all of them are dealing with the same challenges. This is how Duarte, 13 years old, from Portugal, expressed it “Despite being far apart, all of us want the same things and even children as young as 5 years old are already very clear and realistic in their views and opinions”.
These dialogues are part of the so-called “guided tours” to the virtual exhibition and are being organized every month. If you would like to know more about them or get children in your community involved in one of these tours, here is what you need to know.
